 What is Electrolysis?

Electrolysis is a method of permanent hair removal that works by using a tiny electrical current to destroy the hair growth cells inside the follicle.

Electrolysis is suitable for all skin tones and all hair colours, including blonde, red, grey, and white hair. It can be used on nearly any area of the face or body and is especially effective for facial hair and hormonally influenced hair growth.

It works on fine or coarse hair and can be used for individuals with different hair textures. Unlike some other hair removal methods, such as laser hair removal, electrolysis is not dependent on the pigmentation of the hair.

How it works

  • A very fine, sterile probe is inserted into the natural opening of the hair follicle (not through the skin).

  • A controlled electrical current is delivered to the follicle.

  • This current damages the cells responsible for hair growth.

  • The treated hair is then gently removed with tweezers.

  • Once a follicle is properly destroyed, it cannot produce hair again.

Because hair grows in cycles, multiple treatments are required to achieve permanent results.

Skin Types:
Electrolysis can be performed on all skin types. The method is not sensitive to skin colour or pigmentation. However, it’s important to note that individuals with certain medical conditions, such as those affecting the skin or immune system, may need to consult with a healthcare professional before undergoing electrolysis.

Considerations:

Hair Colour: Electrolysis is effective for all hair colours, including light or fine hairs that may not be suitable for laser hair removal.

Skin Sensitivity: While electrolysis is generally safe for all skin types, individuals with sensitive skin may experience some redness or irritation. It’s crucial to follow aftercare instructions provided by the practitioner.

The Evolution 7HD sequential gives us full control of your treatments. Whether it’s with the manual or pre-programmed mode, this highly efficient device ensures a comfortable treatment. The power of a 6.78mhz frequency with the comfort of a mechanism based on the exclusive concept of vector modulations offers wellbeing and high precision. These modulations, which are the fastest on the market at 2/1000 of a second, optimize energy transfer thanks to greater wavelength accuracy and stability.

The Evolution 7HD combines maximum effectiveness with ultimate comfort. The decision to go back to a low frequency while adding sequential modulations was made to ensure optimum efficiency and to prevent clients from feeling the discomfort they may have experienced with past treatments. These modulations, which are the fastest on the market at 2/1000 of a second, optimize energy transfer thanks to greater wavelength accuracy and stability. We can, therefore, get as close as we possibly can to the pain threshold, without ever reaching it, while maximizing the energy that is being delivered.

Electrolysis – FAQs

How many treatments will I need?

Hair grows in cycles, so multiple sessions are required. The total number depends on:

  • Area being treated

  • Hair density and thickness

  • Hormonal influences

  • Consistency of treatments

Most clients see noticeable reduction early, with permanent results achieved over time.

Does electrolysis hurt?

Sensation varies by individual and treatment area. Most clients describe it as a brief pinch, warmth, or tingling. Sensitive areas may feel stronger, but treatments are very quick per hair and generally well tolerated.

Is electrolysis safe for my skin?

Yes. When performed by a trained professional, electrolysis is safe for all skin tones and types. Temporary redness or slight swelling is normal and usually subsides within a few hours.

Can electrolysis treat light or grey hair?

Absolutely. Electrolysis is effective on all hair colours, including blonde, red, grey, and white hair—unlike laser hair removal, which requires pigment.

What areas can be treated?

Electrolysis can be used on most areas of the face and body, including:

  • Chin, upper lip, jawline, and eyebrows

  • Underarms

  • Bikini area

  • Legs

  • Chest or abdomen

It’s especially popular for facial and hormonally driven hair growth.

How long does each session take?

Sessions can range from a few minutes to an hour, depending on the area and amount of hair being treated. Small facial areas are often treated in short, frequent appointments.

Is there downtime after treatment?

There is little to no downtime. Mild redness or swelling may occur but usually resolves quickly. You’ll be given simple aftercare instructions to keep the skin calm and protected.

Can electrolysis be combined with laser hair removal?

Yes. Many clients use laser for larger areas and electrolysis for remaining hairs, especially light, fine, or stubborn hair that laser cannot effectively treat.

Who is a good candidate for electrolysis?

Electrolysis is suitable for almost everyone, especially those who:

  • Want permanent hair removal

  • Have light, grey, or red hair

  • Experience hormonal hair growth

  • Are not candidates for laser
